I. Bilateral Trade Relations According to the statistics Chinese Customs, the bilateral trade volume of China and the Cook Islands in 2007 amounted to USD2.976m, up by 47.5%. Among them, China exported USD1.132m to the Cook Islands, up by 37.8%, and imported USD1.844m from the Cook Islands, with an increase of 54.2%.
From January to May in 2008, the bilateral trade volume amounted to USD623, 000, down by 5.6%. Among them, China exported USD246, 000 to the Cook Islands, down by 34.4%, and imported USD377, 000 from the Cook Islands, with an increase of 32.2%.
The main exports of China to the Cook Islands are machinery and electronic products, automobiles, car chassis and autobikes, and the main imports of China from the Cook Island are frozen fish.
II. Chinese Investment in the Cook Island Up to now, China doesn’t have non-financial direct investment in the Cook Islands.
III. Economic and Technological Cooperation By the end of 2007, the contracts of project contracting, labor service cooperation and design consultation signed by enterprises of China and the Cook Islands amounted to USD6.01m, with completed turnover of USD9.44m.
