1. Bilateral Trade According to the statistics from China Customs, the bilateral trade volume between China and Fiji reached USD66.074m in 2007, down by 4.6% year-on-year, among which, the export to Fiji from China totaled USD63.503m, down by 6.6% year-on-year, and the import from Fiji by China totaled USD2.571m, up by 109.4% year-on-year.
From Jan. to May in 2008, the bilateral trade volume between China and Fiji reached USD27.93m, up by 28% year-on-year, among which, the export to Fiji from China totaled USD27.54m, up by 32% year-on-year, and the import from Fiji by China totaled USD390,000, down by 58% year-on-year.
The exports to Fiji from China are mainly mechanical and electrical products, yarns, agricultural products and etc. The imports from Fiji by China are mainly frozen fish, sawn timbers and logs.
2. China’s Investment in Fiji By the end of 2007, China’s non-financial direct investment in Fiji totaled USD21.43m accumulatively.
3. Economic and Technical Cooperation By the end of 2007, Chinese enterprises have accumulatively concluded USD210m economic and technical contracts with Fiji and realized USD210m turnover.
